Necessary

A single stored value records your answer to the cookie notice so that it is not shown again on every page you open. It contains no identifier and cannot be used to recognise you elsewhere. No consent is required for this category.

Measurement

With consent, an analytics service records page views and reading depth. We use it in aggregate to decide which guides deserve rewriting, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

Advertising

With consent, an advertising network may set cookies to limit how often the same advertisement is shown and to measure campaign performance. Refusing means no advertising cookies are set by this site.

Withdrawing consent

Clearing this site's stored data returns the notice on your next visit, and you can then answer differently:

If you block everything

The guides remain fully readable. The only visible effect is that the consent notice reappears on each visit, because the answer cannot be stored.
